Obstetric anaesthesia specialist interest area (SIA)
- The Obstetric Anaesthesia Specialist Interest Area (SIA) post is aimed at trainees planning for a career as a Consultant Anaesthetist with an Obstetric interest. The Obstetric Anaesthesia SIA is based in the GRI and QEUH, with opportunities to organise placements at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Paisley, University Hospital Crosshouse, University Hospital Wishaw and further afield. In addition to advanced clinical skills, the module will focus on all areas including quality improvement, teaching and management in Obstetric Anaesthesia.
The post is open to all West of Scotland Anaesthetic trainees. Applicants should be at ST5 or a higher stage at time of application and should be in ST6 or beyond when commencing the post. Appointment is subject to approval of the WoSSA training committee. Trainees should inform the Training Programme Director and their College Tutor of their intention to apply wherever possible well in advance. The duration of the post is six months and posts commence in February and August.
